Bernard's wolf

Discovered by Peter Bernard, and named after himself and his nephew, Bernard's Wolf (Canis lupus bernardi) is an extinct subspecies of the Gray Wolf.

It was endemic to the Canadian Arctic, on Banks and Victoria Islands. Bernard's wolf was white with black tips along the back.

It was also known as the Banks Island Wolf, or the Banks Island tundra wolf. Only a few specimens of Bernard's wolf have ever been recovered.

A 1993 survey cataloging wolf and caribou species found no Bernard's wolf subspecies.
